LOVEfords is not affiliated with Ford Motor Company, Legendary Ford Magazine, or any other enterprise. This site is maintained independently on a volunteer basis by the author as a devoted effort to encourage the acquisition, preservation, and enjoyment of Ford-built vehicles and to recognize the accomplishments of the Blue Oval world-wide. What is SEMA? 
A love for cars, trucks and SUVs is the motivating force behind the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA). This trade association consists of a diverse group of manufacturers, distributors, retailers, publishing companies, auto restorers, street rod builders, restylers, car clubs, race teams and more.
SEMA members make, buy, sell and use all kinds of specialty parts and accessories to make vehicles more attractive, more unique, more convenient, faster, safer, more fun and even like-new again.
The companies that founded SEMA--and the entire specialty parts and accessories industry, for that matter--were started by people who loved cars and trucks and turned their hobby into a career. Most people in the industry today still feel this way. That’s one of the things that makes SEMA and its members unique.
Perhaps most importantly, SEMA works hard to protect consumers’ rights to drive accessorized, customized and vintage vehicles. SEMA supports a bipartisan group of state lawmakers whose common thread is a love and appreciation of automobiles. The newest member of the State Automotive Enthusiast Leadership Caucus is Nebraska State Senator Heath Mello. A new way to spell LOVEfords: Nellie
How long have you owned your Ford, Mercury, Edsel, or Lincoln? 10 years, 20 years, maybe 30 years? Perhaps it's been in the family for 40 years. We know of a man in Nevada who is the original owner of his 1955 Thunderbird. However, you better sit down for this one: Mr. Oscar Ulrich of Mexico, Missouri has owned his 1929 Ford Model A since the spring of 1930. Using our calculator, we came up with 79 years of ownership of the Ford Model A Roadster named Nellie.
That's Oscar with Nellie in 1931 at right (Oscar was almost 20 years old at the time). Oscar wrote a lengthy letter to LOVEfords, received on May 29, 2009 which coincidentally was his 98th birthday. Here is some of Oscar's story right now; the complete version will be coming in the July/August issue of Legendary Ford Magazine.
Your author of LOVEfords has owned his 1964 Thunderbird for a mere 36 years, so he considers himself a "newbie" compared to Oscar's experiences. To put it mildly, Oscar's story made my day and I hope it does the same for you, too. And...thank you, Oscar for sharing your story.
The Cougar Club of America is attempting to register all remaining 1967-1973 Cougars, living or dead, into a Cougar database. This database includes all Cougars...from concourse restorations to project cars and those in junkyards and even those that have been parted out. This is not a showcar registry! We hope to use the information to help restorers, identify production trends and learn other helpful details about Cougar history. For this project to be a success, we need as much data as possible. It can be data from your pride and joy, or from your parts car out back under the tarp, or from that old owner's manual in your desk drawer.
